FAQ
Why did you make this?
Look at a blog that hasn’t been touched since 2007 feels like opening the door to a sealed tomb. For a moment, you’re with the person who bared their soul, a person who has long since moved on. I think it’s fascinating and beautiful and it’s something I wanted to share.
How did you make this?
Blogspot was crawled using a simple PHP script that runs through a dictionary, assembles chains of words, and sees if there’s any content there on the web. If there is, the script scrapes the title, URL, and description, and adds it to a database.
This website is hosted on a shared server by the excellent Nixihost. It’s running on Apache, PHP, and MySQL. The WordPress theme is a ridiculously barebones custom theme.
What does this actually index?
Right now, it’s some of Blogspot. I’m working on getting more of it indexed, and eventually I’ll branch out to other blog platforms.
I found a blog with problematic content. What should I do?
Go to the details page for the blog and hit the Report button. If the blog is NSFW, tag it as NSFW. If the blog contains content that may be illegal in the United States or United Kingdom, tag it as “This Shouldn’t Be Here.”
I’m fine having NSFW blogs linked here (provided they’re tagged adequately), and I’m fine having blogs linked here which express controversial viewpoints, but I have a zero tolerance policy for illegal content. Anything reported and reviewed will be removed and reported to Blogspot.
You crawled my embarrassing blog from 7th grade. Can you remove it please?
You shouldn’t feel embarrassed because you’ve grown and you’ve come so far and your blog from 7th grade is a testament to that! …That said, I am happy to honor removal requests. Email me and we’ll work it out.
Can I get a copy of the database?
Email me and we can talk about it. Obviously I can’t stop you from scraping this site, but I’m hesitant to hand out the database given that I also want to honor people’s requests for privacy, should they want their blog removed from the list.
