The Project

About Tomb of Blogspot

Blogging started in the late 90s as a means for people to share their thoughts on the internet. A blog is different from a website. A blog is episodic in nature. A blog is often a diary written with the expectation that anyone can see it, but that it will likely remain unseen. There are multiple millions of blogs on the internet.

The internet has shifted away from blogs. Social media consolidated people’s online presences and rather than creating dedicated spaces for their thoughts, people posted on the social media site de jour. It is likely that the majority of blogs that remain on the internet are dead, or, no longer actively posted on or maintained. But they are still out there, their information still haunting the web with voices that have long since moved on. The way search engines prioritize results, it is getting virtually impossible to find these blogs.

These sites are a vital part of internet history and a part of web culture that’s disappearing. This project aims to index as many blogspot blogs as possible and create a way to easily search and navigate through them.

What This Project Is Not

This project is not an archive. The only data pertaining to these blogs that is being stored on this server is 1. The blog URL 2. The blog title and 3. The blog description, if available.

This project is not affiliated with Blogspot, Blogger, or Google in any way.

Help Curate!

Given the enormous volume of data I’ve crawled, it’s impossible for me to vet every blog in the system. Please help curate the content here by reporting anything you think might not be appropriate for consumption on the internet.

And on a positive note, if you find a cool blog, nominate it to be added to the Best Of category, to showcase cool blogs, or blogs of historic importance.
